I-90 Two Way Transit and HOV Operations - Stage 2Description
| The I-90 Two-Way Transit & HOV Operations project will improve regional mobility by providing safe and reliable two-way transit on I-90 between Bellevue and Seattle. The project will provide full-time HOV lanes for eastbound and westbound traffic on the outer I-90 roadways and will retain the existing reversible lane operations in the center roadway until East Link light rail construction is ready to begin.
The project is being implemented in stages due to the timing and availability of funding.
|

Stages 1 and 2 of the project add HOV lanes to I-90.
|
Three stages have been identified for the project.
Stage 1, completed in October 2008, added a new HOV lane in the westbound outer roadway, a new HOV direct access ramp at 80th Ave SE and modified the Bellevue Way HOV direct access ramp.
Stage 2 provides an HOV lane on eastbound I-90 between Mercer Island and Bellevue, modifies the existing reversible HOV ramp at 80th Ave SE on Mercer Island, extends the eastbound I-90 to I-405 auxiliary lane and modifies Bellevue Way & I-405 HOV direct access from the eastbound HOV lane.
Stage 3 will provide improvements to eastbound and westbound I-90 between Seattle and 80th Ave SE in Mercer Island.
