Link Light Rail Projects

The 13.9-mile Central Link light rail line from Westlake Station to Tukwila International Boulevard Station opened July 18, 2009. A 1.7-mile extension to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will open in December 2009. Ridership is expected to reach 21,000 riders every weekday by the end of 2009. In 2010, after a full year of operation, the average weekday ridership from downtown Seattle to Sea-Tac Airport is expected to total 26,600 riders.

Sound Transit is working to extend the initial light rail segment. University Link is a 3.15 mile light rail extension that will run from Downtown Seattle north to the University of Washington. Voter approval of the mass transit expansion ballot in November 2008 set into motion the completion of design work on North Link, East Link, and the First Hill Streetcar.

Expanding Link

Voter approval of the mass transit expansion ballot in November 2008 set into motion the completion of design work on North Link, East Link, and the First Hill Streetcar.

 

	North Link: In 2006, the Sound Transit Board identified a preferred route that extends beyond University Link and includes the Brooklyn Station, Roosevelt Station and Northgate Station. More>>>
	East Link: The East Link project expands light rail from Downtown Seattle to Mercer Island, downtown Bellevue, and the Overlake Transit Center with stations serving Mercer Island, South Bellevue, downtown Bellevue, Bel-Red and Overlake areas. More>>>
	First Hill Streetcar: The First Hill Streetcar is planned to provide service from Downtown Seattle to Capitol Hill. More>>>
