Sounder Fares

You may pay your Sounder fare using an ORCA card, or a pass such as PugetPass or FlexPass, or you may buy a ticket at the Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) on the train platform. If the value of your pass is less than full Sounder fare, you must purchase a ticket, an upgrade for your pass, or an upgrade for your bus transfer at TVM immediately prior to boarding the train. TVMs accept cash, debit, VISA or MasterCard. For instructions on how to use the TVM, click here.

PugetPass for Sounder service

If you make a roundtrip each weekday or ride several times a month, you should consider the convenience and money-savings of a PugetPass. PugetPass is accepted on Sounder commuter trains, Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro Transit (Metro), Pierce Transit and ST Express buses. PugetPass can be purchased for an amount that represents the typical price of the trip you are likely to take. Sound Transit does not sell PugetPass. Learn more here>>>

Please refer to the chart above to determine which denomination PugetPass you should purchase for travel on commuter rail. If the value of the pass is less than the cost of the one-way fare, you must purchase a pass upgrade at the ticket vending machine (TVM) located on the station platform. If you pay a reduced fare you must show the conductor a valid Regional Reduced Fare Permit.
