Serving the Stadium District for 21 years, North Slope Coffee is a pillar of the local community and the longest standing coffee shop in the neighborhood. Their business is so focused on putting the customer first – that the owner even had a few regulars as guests at her wedding. That sort of hospitality and warmth emanates the space and translates into a wonderful atmosphere that you never want to leave.

At North Slope, they proudly serve Equal Exchange Coffee. Their beans are organic, good for small farmers, and good for our environment. Equal Exchange founded the U.S. fair trade coffee movement in 1986 and continues to be a 100% fair trade food company. The baristas at North Slope have been trained by Equal Exchange to produce the best hand-crafted espresso.

Three sisters opened Red Elm, a Hilltop community coffee shop serving unique eats, treats and waffles, back in 2017. Jennifer Richardson, Adina Joslyn, and Sarah Joslyn have lived in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma for years and the space they have created is a perfect reflection of those homegrown roots. A children’s area has been created in the establishment so that parents can enjoy a cup of coffee while their children play.

Our favorite menu items are the grilled cheese on sourdough with a cup of tomato soup or the incredibly savory cheddar bacon waffles and the turkey sausage breakfast sandwich with pepper jack cheese.

Manifesto Coffee

7 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Daily

What you need to know:

Established in 2016, Manifesto has a simplified menu that caters to all tastes, and they have a friendly and knowledgeable staff to suggest the perfect pastry to complement your drink. Their dark industrial atmosphere accompanied with love for metal and rock music makes the coffee shop and roastery a one-of-a-kind destination for coffee lovers.

Because they roast their own beans in-house, you can be sure that you are getting high quality and well sourced ingredients with every sip. An added bonus is that the roastery building houses a private collection of classic cars in the main room, and a shiny 25lb San Franciscan coffee roaster in the production space.
