It typically lasts for 15 days, starting with the new moon and ending with the full moon. This year, Lunar New Year was celebrated from Jan. 29 – Feb. 12, employees from the Sound Transit SPAM employee resource group joined in by preparing dishes with symbolic meanings to share with one another. Food is also at the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown-International District’s annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 22! Enjoy vibrant dance performances, live music, and a food walk featuring 40+ delicious destinations. Planning to join the festivities? reel icon On Feb. 23, the 1 Line will have disrupted service and reduced frequencies. Shuttle buses will replace 1 Line service between Capitol Hill and SODO stations, running every 10-15 minutes. Trains will operate between Lynnwood–Capitol Hill and SODO–Angle Lake every 15 minutes. Trains will share one track at Shoreline South/148th Station. 🔗 in bio for more!

reel icon Yesterday, Sound Transit’s Blacks Empowering Success in Transit Employee Resource Group (BEST) raised the Pan-African flag in honor of Black History Month—a powerful emblem of resilience, unity, and self-determination. As it soared, so did our collective commitment to truth, justice, and the legacy of those who paved the way. Black history isn’t just about remembering the past—it’s about shaping the future. The day’s events also featured the singing of the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” in front of Union Station, immediately followed by employees gathering in the Ruth Fisher Boardroom to hear about Black activism in transit with Elmer Dixon. reel icon We’re excited to announce that the new 1 Line station on NE 130th St has officially been named PINEHURST STATION! 🎉 After engaging with the community and conducting an internal station name evaluation, “Pinehurst Station” emerged as the top choice, and the name was approved by the Sound Transit Board. Starting in 2026, Pinehurst Station will be here to serve our growing neighborhood between Northgate and Shoreline South/148th Street stations. 🚉 The project will feature lovely pedestrian and bicycle paths, convenient bus stops at the 130th/5th Avenue intersection, a special paratransit drop-off area, a spot for passenger vehicle drop-offs, and captivating station artwork developed by Seattle-based artist, Romson Bustillo - @romsonbustillo. Can’t wait for everyone to enjoy Pinehurst Station! 🥳
