Sounder Commuter Rail Service

  • Began additional Sounder service (fourth round-trip) between Everett and Seattle
  • Began additional Sounder service, including another reverse train, between Tacoma and Seattle
  • Broke ground on South Tacoma Sounder station
  • Broke ground on Everett Station parking expansion
  • Began work on Sounder track improvements from M Street (Tacoma) to Lakewood
  • Began Final Design for Sounder D-M Street rail connector between Tacoma and Lakewood
  • Opened Mukilteo Sounder station
  • Opened Lakewood Station for ST Express bus service
  • Completed Environmental documentation for permanent Tukwila Sounder station
  • Carried 10 millionth Sounder rider

ST Express Regional Bus Service

  • Opened Redmond Transit Center
  • Opened North Everett Transit Center/College Station
  • Opened Mercer Island Park-and-Ride
  • Opened Issaquah Transit Center
  • Received 39 new ST Express buses
  • Opened South Everett Freeway Station
  • Opened I-90 2-Way HOV lanes and ramp (Westbound from Bellevue to Mercer Island)
  • Opened Totem Lake Transit Center

Link Light Rail Service

  • Broke through second Beacon Hill East Portal with light tunnel boring machine
  • Completed work on Tukwila track and guideway
  • Awarded finishes package for SeaTac/Airport light rail station
  • Completed guideway for Airport Link light rail
  • Began testing Link light rail trains in Rainier Valley
  • Awarded contract for University Link light rail vehicles
  • Completed Link light rail fleet delivery

Agency-wide

  • Received 57 percent voter-approval of Sound Transit 2, the mass transit expansion plan
  • Carried about 16 million passengers combined on trains and buses
  • Began education and training programs for special needs riders
  • Obtained international environmental certification
  • Issued clean independent financial audit for tenth consecutive year
  • Reached 50,000 average combined weekday boardings on trains and buses
  • Adopted system integration and expansion work plan
