Newcastle Transit ImprovementsThe Newcastle Transit Improvements project provides new bus shelters, traffic improvements and bicycle/pedestrian access enhancements in the area around the intersection of Newcastle Way and Coal Creek Parkway.
The project will construct four new bus shelters and provide space for additional bus shelters in the future. Intersection improvements including new street channelization and signal system upgrades will enhance transit speed and schedule reliability and benefit general traffic circulation. New bicycle lanes, pedestrian islands and sidewalks increase safety and improve access to transit for bicycle riders and pedestrians.
Sound Transit is a funding partner on the project and is working in partnership with the City of Newcastle who will lead in the design and construction of the project. Detailed project information is online http://www.newcastletransitcenter.com/
