Sound Transit construction efforts continue to move forward. Construction crews are currently making their approach to the intersection of 189th St. and 8th Ave. and will begin to move into Phase 3 as early as September 30th.
What
The closure will be in three phases:
Phase 1: Utility construction on 189th St. to 8th Ave. is currently progressing on schedule. Work that remains will include backfill of trench and roadway paving/restoration; this will continue through September.
Phase 2: Storm drain installation will begin to move South between 189th St. and 188th St. in early September. The crew will begin to prepare the site and will post “No Parking” signs on the east side of 8th Ave. This No Parking Zone will go into effect on 8/30/2021. Phase 2 will continue through late September and will also complete with roadway paving/restoration.
Phase 3: Crews will be on 8th Ave. from NE 188th St. down to 185th St., stopping just before the intersection. This will be deep excavation for storm drain structures and pipe, as well as backfill and compaction over newly installed pipe. Further updates to come.
