Jobs

We're always in need of passionate individuals looking to make a difference in the way we travel around the region.

At Sound Transit, we plan, build and operate transit for a purpose: making life better for people. That means we’re focused on much more than just trains and buses.

Sound Transit needs civil and systems engineers, community engagement specialists, construction managers, DEI experts, landscape architects, specialists in public art, IT, sustainability, facilities maintenance, and so much more.

Why work here?

Sound Transit is an amazing place to work. The nation's largest transit expansion effort isn’t just about rails and roads—we need your help to protect and sustain our environment, create more affordable housing across the region, advance our commitments to equity and anti-racism, and so much more. So if you’re looking for a meaningful career where you can "go big" and make a difference, you’ve come to the right place.

Speaking of place, we think living and working in the Pacific Northwest is pretty amazing. From beaches, rainforests and snowy volcanic peaks to world-class dining, top-rated schools and a vibrant arts and entertainment scene, our growing region has something for everyone. And Sound Transit's industry-best benefits and policies give employees the freedom and flexibility to build quality of life and make the most of it all.

Hybrid work options

While Sound Transit is not a multistate employer (as part of our commitment to economic opportunity for the region, employees must maintain Washington state residency), we offer a range of flexible and hybrid work options for many positions.

Some roles are mandatory on-site (typically service operation roles), while others can choose either primarily on-site (1-2 days remote per week) or primarily remote (3-5 days remote per week).

Most employees can come into work at Sound Transit’s headquarters, conveniently located in and around Union Station in downtown Seattle, on a schedule that works for them and for their team.

Your Talent Advisor can provide more information about our hybrid work options and flexible schedules during the recruitment process.

Equal treatment for all

At Sound Transit, we believe that a diverse workforce and an inclusive environment where all voices are heard make us a better, stronger, more innovative and more creative agency.

Our employees' diverse backgrounds, cultures, perspectives and beliefs give us a richer and more empowered workforce. We strive to cultivate a work environment that’s high-performing and compassionate, where all have equitable opportunities to grow and succeed, and each employee brings their authentic selves to do their best work to accomplish our mission.
