Ride light rail to Lunar New Year for continued celebrations in 2025

Publish Date

It’s the year of the wood snake; a transformational year.

If you were born in the Year of the Snake, you’re in luck, because 2025 is your year to shed old habits, embrace intuition and see change as an opportunity to evolve.

The snake represents intelligence, insight, and resourcefulness, and people born in the Year of the Snake are thought to be perceptive, analytical, and often possess an air of mystery.

This year, Lunar New Year kicked off on Jan. 29, commemorated with events around the region. But there's still more to explore!

Whether you’re a snake year baby or just someone who appreciates good fortune, amazing food and a festive celebration, here are some places where you can celebrate that are all reachable by Link light rail. (Which, kind of looks like a snake, yeah?)

Chinatown-International District

Just mere steps from the International District/Chinatown Light Rail Station, you can explore the iconic red lanterns adorning the streets as you enjoy the lively lion and dragon dance performances.

Don't miss the traditional parade featuring beautiful floats and cultural displays. Learn more about the Lunar New Year Celebration in Chinatown-International District on Feb. 22.

Hing Hay Park

Hing Hay Park is a central hub for Lunar New Year festivities in the heart of the Chinatown-International District. Join in the community events, watch traditional performances on the main stage, and sample a variety of delicious Asian cuisines from food vendors and restaurants near the park.

Wing Luke Museum

Also, just a short walk from the International District/Chinatown Light Rail Station, the Wing Luke Museum offers a chance to immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of the Asian-Pacific American experience.

During the Lunar New Year, the museum hosts special exhibits and events, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the traditions associated with this festive occasion.
