Recently, puppy raisers for Guide Dogs for the Blind - Snohomish took a paws-itively adorable ride on Link as part of a training exercise.
These future working animals were able to experience riding the 1 Line from Northgate to Westlake.
"We had a great outing on the light rail last night, including a ride on the train, walking around Westlake, practicing traffic and puddles, and then returning with lots of kenneling under seats," they posted.
Today is the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) becoming law, and July is Disability Pride Month.
Supporting events like this is one of the ways that Sound Transit assists our passengers with disabilities, making sure everyone can use our services and navigate our system.
Jesse V., a fare engagement supervisor at Sound Transit and a volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), was involved with the outing, which featured some very photogenic passengers.
"It was amazing to watch and participate in training these puppies to stay calm with new sounds, movements [and] smells of the station and trains, and it was comforting to know the scariest part was a puddle," he said.
GDB helps empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired, believing that everyone deserves to move through the world safely and confidently. The organization "not only improves mobility for our clients, we further inclusion."
