Meet the conductors
All aboard! Sounder conductors are on the go
Their days are busy, starting as early as 3:40 a.m. and running as late as 8 p.m., but the Sounder train conductors say their passengers make all the difference.
A conductor's main responsibility is the safe, professional operation of the train. That means constant communications with locomotive engineers, dispatchers and station agents as they move about 11,000 commuters every weekday - not counting special weekend trains to Seahawks, Mariners and Sounders FC matches.
Here's something you might not know. While Sound Transit owns the stations and provides security, Sounder trains are operated by BNSF Railway and all the conductors and engineers are BNSF employees.
