Closures on I-5 for Federal Way Link construction
Closures will be along southbound I-5 near Midway Landfill in Kent
Part of the Federal Way Link Extension impacts a portion of the Midway Landfill near southbound I-5. Crews will need to close the southbound I-5 shoulder from milepost 148.7 to milepost 147.7 beginning Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for clearing and grading to create an access road for future light rail construction.
On Thursday, May 7, and Monday, May 11, crews will close the two right lanes of southbound I-5 in the same area from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. in order to install concrete barriers along the shoulder to provide construction access. All project construction work is done under stringent COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.
