Join Sound Transit and partners for Downtown Redmond Link opening day celebration
Enjoy activities, food and entertainment at each of the new 2 Line stations and locations throughout Redmond
The Link 2 Line will open to Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond Stations on Saturday, May 10. Everyone is invited to celebrate this exciting transit milestone starting with a speaking program and ribbon cutting at Downtown Redmond Station at 10:30 a.m. Service on the new extension will begin after the ribbon cutting, anticipated to be around noon.
When the trains start running, the celebration gets rolling with events hosted by community partners at the Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond stations, and by the City of Redmond at other local locations from 12 - 4 p.m.
Celebrate at the stations
Move Redmond will host the Downtown Redmond Station celebration, with activities along Redmond’s Central Connector Trail from the station to the park. Vendors, live music, food, and family-friendly activities will be featured.
Marymoor Village Station activities will be hosted by OneRedmond Foundation, and will include diverse local performance groups, community booths, food trucks, and commemorative giveaways.
Discover. Share. Win!
Sound Transit will be hosting its exclusive Discover. Share. Win! activity, that will allow riders to explore the new stations along the Downtown Redmond Link Extension. In a departure from previous openings, riders will be able to show how they’ll use the new Downtown Redmond Extension as part of their transit adventures on social media for the opportunity to win a prize.

Microsoft is the event’s Presenting Partner, and in addition to Discover. Share. Win! prizes, will be furnishing more than 1,500 ORCA cards preloaded with a regional day pass to be distributed at the event.

In addition to the opening day celebrations at the new 2 Line stations, the City of Redmond has lined up experiences to extend the celebration citywide. Everyone is invited to come explore everything Redmond offers and an interactive Experience Redmond Scavenger Hunt, created in partnership with Conundroom Escape Rooms.

Get to opening day
Guests are encouraged to take transit to the opening day celebration. King County Metro route 250, RapidRide B Line and ST Express 545 serve the Downtown Redmond Station. Parking will be available at Redmond Technology and Marymoor Village stations. Microsoft will provide free shuttle service between Redmond Technology Station, Marymoor Village Parking Garage and Downtown Redmond Station every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. until service begins.
Trail and trail-adjacent paths between Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond stations will be open for people who want to walk and bike. Bike parking is available at all stations.
The 2 Line will run every 10 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. seven days a week between South Bellevue and Downtown Redmond stations. Fare is required. Passengers will be able to connect with the regional transit network at South Bellevue, Bellevue Downtown, Redmond Technology, Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond stations.
When the full 2 Line opens, it will add the Mercer Island and Judkins Park stations and connect to the 1 Line at the International District/Chinatown Station in downtown Seattle.
