Link light rail service will be temporarily suspended between U District and Capitol Hill stations the weekend of Feb. 1 - 2
Link Shuttle buses will operate to transport riders between stations; passengers should allow additional time for trips
Link light rail will be temporarily suspended between U District and Capitol Hill stations for essential repairs to the Overhead Contact System (OCS) at University of Washington station. Buses will replace trains on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2, with normal operations resuming at the start of service on Monday, Feb. 3.
Over the weekend, crews will be replacing the overhead contact wire that provides power to the train at the University of Washington interlocking, and in the bore just north of the northbound platform. These essential repairs will improve Link safety and reliability while restoring full speed service on northbound trains travelling through University of Washington station. During the work, buses will run approximately every 10-15 minutes between U District and Capitol Hill, with all shuttles serving University of Washington station.
Passengers travelling southbound from U District station will have to get off the train and take the shuttle bus, reconnecting at Capitol Hill station for trips further south. The same will be true for passengers heading north through Capitol Hill station, who will exit at Capitol Hill for the shuttle bus and return to light rail at U District station for the remainder of their journey. Link trains will be operating approximately every 15 minutes between Angle Lake and Capitol Hill and approximately every 12 minutes between U District and Lynnwood City Center.
This service suspension is the third in a series of planned disruptions to construct, test, and repair components of the 1 and 2 Lines. The next scheduled disruption will be Feb. 14-16 for additional 2 Line tie-in work.
