Open house will share environmental analysis and design updates
Sound Transit is planning a new garage and pedestrian, bicycle and bus improvements at Kent Station to give more people convenient access to a traffic-free commute on Sounder.
Sound Transit has analyzed potential environmental impacts and benefits of the project on topics such as aesthetics, transportation, and construction impacts, and is accepting comments on this analysis from October 7-21, 2019. We’ve also completed conceptual design on the project, which includes new bus layover space to serve expanding bus service.
Come get an update on the project and see the results of our environmental analysis:

In early 2020 the Sound Transit Board will select the “project to be built” and advance the project to the next phase, which includes property acquisition, permitting and selection of a design-build firm. We expect construction to begin in 2021, and the garage is trending toward opening in 2024.
Other Kent Station news – new solo driver permit parking
Beginning in November, Sound Transit is expanding the carpool permit parking area at Kent Station to provide a new choice for riders who drive alone but can’t reach the station before the garage typically fills. Standard single-occupant vehicle (SOV) permits will cost $60 per month. Solo drivers who qualify for ORCA Lift will receive a discounted rate of $20 per month.
Permit holders have exclusive use of designated spaces until 8 a.m. on weekdays. After 8 a.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends and holidays, any and all open spaces are free to use.
