Sound Transit has reached an important milestone! Design and permitting work on East Link is underway and the City of Redmond will soon review Sound Transit's Master Planned Development (MPD) application to build the alignment and two stations connecting Overlake to the regional Link light rail system. The application will also include new pedestrian and bike bridges built with funding from Redmond and Microsoft.
If you missed the opportunity to review project materials or provide feedback at last November's open house, April 14th is your opportunity prior to City review of the Sound Transit MDP application.
The purpose of a MPD permit is to provide long-term guidance for developments occurring over several years on large pieces of land. The approved MPD permit will show conceptual site plans for the project, and allow Sound Transit to build the infrastructure in phases consistent with design-build construction. Sound Transit's MPD also demonstrates compatibility with site conditions and ensures the project fits into the City's Overlake Subarea Plan and vision.
