Upcoming weekend directional closures coming to I-405 in downtown Bellevue

Sound Transit's contractor crew plan weekend northbound closures on Interstate 405 in August.

Last year crews built the temporary falsework structure (comprised of steel columns and beam) to support the concrete structure as it was cast and tensioned.

With the bridge complete, crews will disassemble the falsework using electric winches to lower the heavy steel beams safely to the ground. With southbound weekend closures complete, northbound weekend closures are necessary to safely complete this work.

Northbound – Friday, Aug. 16th, 10 p.m. – Monday, Aug. 19th, 5 a.m.

• From Friday at 10 p.m. through Saturday night at midnight (Sunday morning) northbound I-405 ramps in Bellevue will be closed. Traffic will need to use ramp detour routes during this time. 
• From Saturday night at midnight (Sunday morning) through Monday at 5 a.m. northbound mainline lanes will be closed. To minimize impacts to drivers, northbound I-405 traffic will need to use the collector-distributor road at exit 13B as a bypass route during this time.

• Crews will close one right lane on northbound I-405 from Northeast 8th Street to Main Street.
• The northbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 8th Street (Exit 13B) will be closed.
• The Northeast 4th Street to northbound I-405 on-ramp will also be closed while work is occurring.

Friday, Aug. 16th, (10 p.m.) – Saturday night, Aug. 17th (midnight)

Saturday night, Aug. 17th (midnight) - Monday morning, Aug. 19th (5 a.m.)

• All mainline lanes on northbound I-405 will be closed.
• The northbound I-405 HOV off-ramp and the southbound HOV on-ramp to and from Northeast 6th Street will be closed.
• The Northeast 4th Street to northbound I-405 on-ramp will be closed.
• The northbound I-405 traffic will be diverted to the collector-distributor at exit 13B as a bypass route during the closure. Southbound traffic lanes will remain open.
• Please follow the direction of flaggers and signed detours to safely access your destination. 
• Please plan ahead, leave early and allow extra time to reach your destination.
