New murals at Kent Des Moines and Federal Way
STart – Sound Transit’s art program – has worked with several local artists to develop murals to hang on construction fences around the future Kent Des Moines station area.
Sound Transit installed 57 murals, mostly hand-painted canvases, by Cecelia DeLeon, Jasmine Brown, Gabriel Marquez, Tiffanny Hammonds, Tommy Segundo, Toka Valu, Sabah Al Dhaher and Zanetka Gawronski along Pacific Highway South.
In addition to this new art, STart installed 40 vinyl banners of artist Christine Nguyen’s work along 23rd Avenue South in Federal Way on fences near the Federal Way Transit Center. Federal Way artist Barry Johnson’s work is featured in 10 additional murals that are on display along South 320th, also near the transit center.
We hope you’ll take a moment to enjoy the custom art created specifically for this project! Learn more about the art and artists by clicking below.
