Weekend July 1-2 and July 8-9: Bellevue Way SE reduced to one lane and ramps to I-90 closed

Utility relocation work will continue this weekend on Bellevue Way Southeast. Sound Transit's contractor plans to close three lanes of Bellevue Way Southeast from Saturday, July 1st at 7 a.m. through 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 2nd. This closure will be repeated the weekend of July 8-9.

During the July 1-2 and 8-9 closures, Bellevue Way Southeast will be reduced to one northbound lane and access to I-90 will be prohibited. The eastbound I-90 ramp to Bellevue Way Southeast will also be closed. Westbound I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way Southeast will be maintained.

  1. Northbound vehicles will travel in a temporary lane on the west side of Bellevue Way Southeast. Access to Sweyolocken Boat Launch will only be available from westbound I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way Southeast. Local access will be maintained to all residential driveways along Bellevue Way Southeast. Emergency access will be maintained.
  2. Access from Bellevue Way Southeast to I-90 will be prohibited. The eastbound I-90 ramp to Bellevue Way Southeast will also be closed. Westbound I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way Southeast will be maintained.
  3. Vehicle access and parking at the Winters House and Blueberry Farm will not be available during the closure.
  4. The sidewalk on Bellevue Way Southeast in this area will also close; people biking and walking should seek alternate routes.
  5. Bus stops on Bellevue Way Southeast, south of the Wye at 112th Avenue Southeast will be closed and riders will need to use alternate stops located on Bellevue Way Southeast, north of the Wye.
  6. Detour to I-90 and I-405 via 112th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 8th.

During the closure, Sound Transit's contractor will continue work to install and relocate utilities along Bellevue Way Southeast.

Week of July 3-7: (No work is scheduled on Monday, July 3 or Tuesday, July 4th)

Wednesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.: One northbound lane of Bellevue Way Southeast will be closed from the north end of the South Bellevue Station site to the Wye at 112th Avenue Southeast.

Wednesday-Friday 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.: The Bellevue Way Southeast to I-90 west HOV ramp will be closed.

Wednesday-Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Daily closures of one southbound lane on 112th Avenue Southeast, between Main Street and Southeast 6th.

Reminder of ongoing closures

24-hour closure: Beginning Wednesday, June 21st the sidewalk on Bellevue Way Southeast between the Wye at 112th Avenue Southeast and the South Bellevue Station site was closed. This closure will last approximately 2 ½ years; people biking and walking should seek alternate routes.

24-hour closure: The sidewalk on the west side of 112th Avenue Southeast, between East Main and Southeast 6th is closed due to construction activities on the west side of 112th Avenue Southeast. People walking are asked to use the sidewalk on the east side of 112th Avenue Southeast, crossing at the signalized intersections located at Main Street and Southeast 6th. The King County Metro bus stop located between Main Street and Southeast 4th has been relocated to a new location on the west side of 112th Avenue Northeast, north of Main Street. The King County Metro stop located south of Southeast 4th has been relocated to a new location on the west side of 112th Avenue Southeast, south of Southeast 6th.

A look ahead

Sound Transit's contractor expects regular weekend closures to continue into the fall. Following the July 1-2 and 8-9 closures, Sound Transit's contractor is planning a full weekend closure of Bellevue Way over the weekend of July 15-16. During the full weekend closure, all ramps to/from Bellevue Way Southeast and I-90 will be closed and only local resident and emergency access will be maintained. At this time, weekend closures to Bellevue Way Southeast are not anticipated for the weekends of July 22-23, July 29-30 and August 5-6.
