Getting ready for the Link extensions coming over the next few years involves a lot more than just construction on the projects themselves. It also means making sure that our existing operations are in top condition as we prepare to expand our transit system across the region.
As with any system that begins to age, the vehicles, tracks and facilities require maintenance so that our system can continue operating in a safe and reliable manner. This means that passengers will need to prepare for intermittent periods of less frequent service and replacement bus service when available.
Link light rail
Dec. 7 - Dec. 8 service disruption
The 1 Line will be reduced all day on Dec. 7-8, as crews repair overhead power systems near University of Washington station.
Due to the location of the repair work, the 1 Line will operate in three separate segments during this service reduction. Passengers will need to transfer between each segment to continue their journey:
- Lynnwood–U District: every 22 minutes
- U District–Capitol Hill: every 22 minutes
- Capitol Hill–Angle Lake: every 15 minutes
If passengers want to avoid multiple train transfers, shuttle buses will operate every 10-15 minutes between U District, University of Washington, and Capitol Hill stations.
Trains will share one track at U District, University of Washington, and Capitol Hill stations.
