Elevator closure Ongoing

University Street North Mezzanine elevators to Benaroya Hall lobby reduced service hours in 2024

In effect: Dec. 29, 6:00 p.m.

Routes: 1 Line

The University Street elevators serving the north mezzanine to the Benaroya Hall lobby, near Exit A2, will have reduced hours for public use beginning Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The elevators will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, except holidays.

On certain weekends and evenings, the Benaroya Hall Boeing Gallery will offer access to University Street Station from 2.5 hours prior to any public event through its conclusion. See the Seattle Symphony’s calendar of Benaroya Hall events for dates and times of public events.

The elevators will be in service at the specified times. Please use alternate elevators when these elevators are not in service.

Starting August 30, University Street Station will be renamed Symphony Station

In effect: Aug. 19-31

Routes: 1 Line

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our rider experience, University Street Station will be renamed Symphony Station. This new name celebrates the nearby Seattle Symphony and reduces confusion, since riders often (understandably) confused University Street Station with University of Washington Station and U District Station.

Look out for updated signs and maps at Sound Transit stations.

New Variable Messaging Signs will be installed at Tukwila Int'l Blvd Station beginning on Thursday, August 29.

In effect: Aug. 29 - Oct. 1

Routes: 1 Line

New signs will help better communicate service information to passengers. Information displayed on signs at the station may not be viewable during installation and testing.

There should be minimal impact on how passengers navigate through the station platform and entry to the station.

Tukwila Int'l Blvd Station scheduled installation: 8 A.M. - 4 P.M., 8/29 until 10/1.

Late night rider information from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Northgate Station.

In effect: March 30 - Aug. 31

Routes: 1 Line

For service to Northgate via downtown Seattle, from Seattle -Tacoma International Airport:

On weekdays and Saturday, the last train to Northgate Station with service through downtown Seattle departs SeaTac/Airport Station at about 11:58 p.m. All remaining trains will terminate at Beacon Hill Station.

On Sunday’s, the last train to Northgate Station with service through downtown Seattle departs SeaTac/Airport Station at about 11:13 p.m. All remaining trains will terminate at Beacon Hill Station.

Passengers are recommended to exit at Mount Baker Station and use the following King County Metro Routes to travel towards Northgate Station:

• Passengers requiring service to downtown Seattle, please take King County Metro Route 7.

• Passengers requiring service to Capitol Hill Station, please take King County Metro Route 7 to 3rd Avenue and Pike Street, then transfer to King County Metro Route 49 at Pike Street and 4th Avenue.

• Passengers requiring service to University of Washington and U District stations, please use King County Metro Route 48.

• Passengers requiring service to Roosevelt and Northgate stations, please use King County Metro Route 48 and transfer to King County Metro Route 67.

Link 1 and 2 Line fares changing August 30

In effect: Aug. 23 - Sep. 7

Routes: 1 Line & 2 Line

Starting Friday, Aug. 30, the regular adult fare for Link light rail will be $3. This flat fare will replace Sound Transit’s distance-based fares, which range from $2.25 to $3.50. One-way fares for the T Line in Tacoma will remain $2.

The change to flat fares will simplify Link travel by eliminating the need for passengers using ORCA cards to tap off when they complete their trip. Link 1 Line and 2 Line passengers will only need to tap before entering the fare-paid zone. Sounder passengers will continue to tap on before boarding and tap off when they exit.

Beginning June 3rd, Sound Transit Fare Ambassadors have started checking fares within the FARE PAID ZONES, in certain Seattle stations.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, except holidays.
During certain weekends and evenings before and during public events.

Passengers requiring elevator service outside of these times should use the elevators near Exit C.
