It's happening.
Test trains have started rolling the length of the new Northgate Link Extension opening (on time and on budget) in September.
This is an important next step as we prepare to open the new stations at the Northgate, Roosevelt and U District neighborhoods.
Trips from Northgate to Westlake will take 14 minutes, U District to Capitol Hill will take six minutes.
Those are not typos.
Over the next nine months crews will continue testing the power, communications and fire/life/safety systems at the stations and in the tunnels leading up to the final safety certifications needed to open to the public.
Opening day won't have the same big public celebrations as in past years because of the pandemic, but we're planning ways to stretch out opening day excitement over a longer period.

We can't wait to show you around!
For now, enjoy the fresh pics and that new station smell you can almost get from these photos.
