Online open house for King Street Station platform area improvements kicks off today
Opportunity for public to weigh in on potential station improvements
King Street Station in Seattle is a primary destination for Sounder passengers, but the station can feel crowded, especially on the stairs and in the elevators during peak commute times. Additionally, the current platform at King Street isn’t long enough to serve future 10-car Sounder trains.
As part of the Sounder South Capacity Expansion program, Sound Transit is studying how to make King Street Station better for passengers and better able to serve more Sounder riders in the future. Improvements at the station could include more stairs, elevators, a concourse above the platform and lengthening the platform to accommodate longer trains.
An online open house will be available starting today through May 10 at https://kingstreetstation.participate.online/. The open house is available in Spanish, Vietnamese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
The online open house includes proposals for station improvement and an opportunity for public feedback. Sound Transit staff will be available to answer questions at two in-person events at the Weller Street Bridge, located at 4th Avenue South and Weller Street.
- Wednesday April 27 - 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Monday May 2 – 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
