80th Ave westbound HOV off-ramp closures

Beginning as early as May 15, crews working for Sound Transit will close the 80th Ave. westbound HOV off-ramp during non peak hours to conduct utility and storm sewer investigations. Sound Transit Express and King County Metro bus routes will continue to serve the Mercer Island Park-and-Ride during this time. Drivers will be able to use the Island Crest Way westbound off-ramp.

  • The 80th Ave. westbound HOV off-ramp will close Wednesday, May 15 – Friday May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Drivers can use the Island Crest Way westbound off-ramp during these closures.
  • Sound Transit Express and King County Metro routes will continue to service the Mercer Island Park-and-Ride during this time.
  • Crews will be conducting utility and storm sewer investigations.
  • Plan ahead, leave early and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Island Crest Way ramp closures extended through May 31

In the coming weeks, work will continue to ramp up at the Mercer Island Station as crews work on both head houses, station sound walls and the platform. Installation of glass panels for the curtain walls, escalators, and fire suppression system. Crews will also pour the remaining concrete for the station's platform and paint the sound walls. To safely complete this work, crews will need to close both the Island Crest Way eastbound HOV off-ramp and the Island Crest Way westbound HOV on-ramp during off-peak hours through the end of May. During these closures, drivers can use the Island Crest Way east bound general purpose off-ramp and the 76th Ave. westbound on-ramp.
