Crews working for Sound Transit will replace concrete barriers on westbound I-90, between the Mercer Island Tunnel and the floating bridge beginning as early as 5 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. 

To safely complete this work, crews will temporarily close the westbound HOV and far left lane between the Mercer Island Tunnel and the floating bridge. Traffic control will be in place and drivers should pay attention to signage and flaggers to safely reach their destinations.

Westbound I-90, from the Mercer Island Tunnel to the floating bridge.

  • Crews will install new concrete barriers on westbound I-90, between the Mercer Island Tunnel and the Floating bridge. Barriers will be installed on the left hand side of the roadway.
  • Crews will temporarily close the westbound HOV and far left lane between the Mercer Island Tunnel and the floating bridge.
  • Concrete trucks, fork lifts and other construction vehicles will be used to complete this work.
  • Plan ahead, leave early and allow extra time to reach your destination.
  • Due to inclement weather or unforeseen issues, dates and times are subject to change.

Westbound Island Crest Way HOV on-ramp closure

Crews will close the westbound Island Crest Way HOV on-ramp on Tuesday Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to complete pouring concrete duct banks for the station. Drivers can use the 76th Avenue Southeast and West Mercer on-ramps during this closure.
