Nighttime work on Mercer Island

Sound Transit’s contractor will be installing conduit along the underside of the E. Mercer Way overpass. To safely complete this work, crews will close westbound I-90 lanes near the overpass overnight to reduce impacts to the traveling public. 

On Monday April 1 and Tuesday April 2, lane closures will take place during overnight hours from approximately 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. This work will coincide with a planned full closure of westbound I-90 from Richards Rd. to Bellevue Way to accommodate elevated guideway construction.
Additionally, during the nights of April 3 and 4, two right lanes of westbound I-90 will be closed at E. Mercer Way from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Crews will begin closing lanes prior to 11 p.m. and the E. Mercer Way westbound off-ramp will remain open during this work.

What

Conduit installation along the underside of the E. Mercer overpass. This will provide electricity for signal houses on the I-90 roadway.

When

  • April 1 & 2: Full westbound I-90 closure from Richards Rd. to Bellevue Way SE; this closure will take 1-2 nights. from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Work requiring a full closure is expected to last one or two nights.
  • April 2: In the event a full closure is not needed on April 2, crews will close the three left lanes from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • April 3 & 4: Two westbound I-90 right lanes closed at E. Mercer Way; April 3 & 4, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Island Crest Westbound HOV on-ramp daily closures extended

Closures of the Island Crest Way westbound HOV on-ramp have been extended through April 5. This ramp will close during off-peak hours, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. These closures are necessary to continue construction of concrete foundations.
