OMF drop-in sessions are also happening!
We’re forging ahead on our new Operations and Maintenance Facility (OMF) South, which we need by 2026 to store and service our growing fleet of clean, quiet electric light rail trains. The OMF South will create more than 300 living-wage jobs in South King County.
OMF’s in-person outreach has begun and is occurring on the same timeline as TDLE’s outreach period. An online version of OMF’s informational drop-in sessions is available through December 6.

Framing City South is live!
Note to residents of Federal Way: The City of Federal Way is undergoing a visioning project to plan for future light rail in South Federal Way. The project collects thoughts on the area’s current strengths and uses and envisions what the space could be moving forward. Your input will influence the city of Federal Way’s vision of the station area. The online open house is available through December 15.
What is TDLE?
Sound Transit’s Link light rail extension from Federal Way to Tacoma will create fast, congestion-free connections to residential and job centers in the South Sound and beyond when it launches in 2030, including:
- South Federal Way to Tacoma in 20 minutes
- Fife to Tacoma in six minutes
- Tacoma to Sea-Tac Airport in 35 minutes
The Tacoma Dome Link Extension (TDLE) project will add almost 10 miles of mostly elevated tracks to the regional light rail system and four new stations, near south Federal Way, Fife, east Tacoma and the Tacoma Dome.
These stations will also offer riders efficient connections to other transit options like Sounder, Tacoma Link, ST Express, King County Metro, Pierce Transit, Intercity Transit and Amtrak.
Stations will feature pick-up and drop-off zones and provide access for those traveling by foot, bike, paratransit and other modes. The future South Federal Way and Fife stations will include approximately 500 parking spaces each.
