As part of East Link construction, crews working for Sound Transit will remove sign bridges along I-90 that are no longer necessary. This work will make way for future installation of the overhead catenary system that will carry the wires to provide electricity to light rail vehicles. Work will occur along the East Channel Bridge and to safely complete this work, crews will close the I-405 southbound to I-90 westbound HOV ramp. See map below for more information.

  • The I-405 southbound to I-90 westbound HOV ramp will close Monday, April 15 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The I-405 southbound to I-90 westbound general purpose ramp will remain open.
  • Crews will remove existing sign bridges that are no longer necessary.
  • Plan ahead, leave early and allow extra time to reach your destination.
  • Due to inclement weather or unforeseen issues, dates and times are subject to change.

Island Crest Way ramp closures extended

Crews continue to make progress at the Mercer Island Station. In the coming weeks, glass curtain walls, elevators and escalators will be installed. To safely complete this work, crews will need to close both the Island Crest Way eastbound HOV off-ramp and the Island Crest Way westbound HOV on-ramp during off-peak hours for the next three weeks.

  • The Island Crest Way eastbound HOV off-ramp and the Island Crest Way westbound HOV on-ramp will close Monday – Friday, April 15 – May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Crews will continue installing metal framing, pour concrete duct banks, install glass curtain walls and begin installation of escalators and elevators. 
  • The 76th Avenue Southeast westbound on-ramp and Island Crest Way eastbound general purpose off-ramp will remain open during these closures.
  • Plan ahead, leave early and allow extra time to reach your destination.
