Overview

By the end of 2026, Link light rail will provide expanded service to areas now served by buses.

To maximize the benefits of this new service, we're developing a plan to change ST Express routes so that they provide connections to light rail.

What does the 2026 Service Plan mean for me?

We recognize that riders have established transit habits, and it will take time to get used to changes in these patterns. We are currently assessing what these changes will look like on each route, but riders can expect some combination of the following:

  • Routes with updated schedules
  • More connections to more places throughout the region.
  • Buses that integrate with the growing Link light rail network

Change is always hard, but the benefits of reorienting ST Express service to connect to Link light rail include:

  • More reliable service: Unlike buses, Link light rail travels on dedicated tracks, which means you won’t get stuck in traffic and can count on making your trip in the same amount of time every day.
  • A trip that works for you today and tomorrow: Our highways and roads are only getting busier. More light rail service means you don’t have to worry about traffic for your trips, now or in the future.
  • More choices: With more connections to new destinations provided by Link light rail , more connections between buses and light rail, and new and expanded parking at light rail stations, you have more choices for where to go and how to get around.
